About the author:
Adrian Tindall was born in London and studied archaeology at the universities of Sheffield and Bradford. He worked as a professional archaeologist for over forty years, including twenty as county archaeologist for Hereford and Worcester, Cheshire and latterly Cambridgeshire.
He has carried out fieldwork in East Anglia, the Midlands, Yorkshire, the North West, Wales, Orkney, Italy and Libya, and has for many years given talks to local groups, schools and adult education classes. He is a Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries and a Member of the Chartered Institute for Archaeologists.
Although now retired from professional archaeology, he remains a Trustee of West Stow Anglo-Saxon Village Trust. He lives in Bury St Edmunds and is an accredited Green Badge Tour Guide, an Associate of the Institute of Tourist Guiding and Chair of the Bury St Edmunds Association of Registered Tour Guides.
